SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASES (STDs): SERIOUS HEALTH RISKS NOT TO BE UNDERESTIMATED
Did you know that most sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) often go undetected in their early stages because they either present no symptoms or only cause mild infections? Anyone who is sexually active is at risk, with certain groups — such as adolescents and men who have sex with men — facing higher risks.
Today, many people still feel embarrassed, ashamed, and reluctant to seek proper medical care, often choosing to self-medicate. This frequently leads to incomplete treatment, lingering anxiety, and untreated infections, causing the condition to worsen. As a result, most STD cases presented at clinics are already in advanced stages, requiring more time, effort, and expense to treat.
However, STDs are entirely preventable if one practices safe sex, maintains awareness, and has basic knowledge of sexual health. Avoiding risky behaviors and proactively getting vaccinated are key factors in preventing sexually transmitted diseases.
Regular screening is also strongly recommended to detect and treat any early signs of disease promptly.
